Judge of the Lida City Court

Swiss SECO Sanctions/Embargoes,

In his position as the judge of Lida City Court, Maxim Filatau is responsible for numerous politically motivated rulings against peaceful protesters, in particular the sentencing of activist Vitold Ashurok, who is recognized as political prisoner by Viasna, a Belarussian human rights organisation. He is therefore responsible for serious human rights violations and seriously undermining the rule of law, as well as the repression of civil society and democratic opposition.

En sa qualité de juge au tribunal de la ville de Lida, Maksim Filataù est responsable d’un grand nombre de décisions prononcées contre des manifestants pacifiques pour des motifs politiques, notamment de la condamnation du militant Vitold Achourak, qui a été reconnu comme prisonnier politique par Viasna, une organisation biélorusse de défense des droits de l’homme. Il est donc responsable de graves violations des droits de l’homme et de graves atteintes à l’état de droit, ainsi que de la répression de la société civile et de l’opposition démocratique.
