The tanker is involved in the export of russian oil/petroleum products from russian ports to third countries during the G7 and EU oil embargo and price cap policy on russian oil/petroleum products. The vessel makes calls to the ports of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, in particular, in June 2025 to the port of Crimea. The tanker is operated by the russian shipping company Petrotanker LLC (7840463656), which has a state contract with the sanctioned Rosneft Oil Company worth more than RUB 221.4 million. In August 2025, Ukraine imposed sanctions on the ship's captain. In September 2025, the United Kingdom imposed sanctions on the tanker for engaging in activities the purpose or effect of which is to destabilize Ukraine, undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty or independence of Ukraine, or to benefit or support the russian government through the transportation of oil/petroleum products of russian origin from russia to a third country.
