OpenSanctions builds a database that tracks a wide range of entities in the public interest: sanctioned companies, politicians, fraudsters, and criminals. Originally built to support anti-corruption journalists, OpenSanctions has also become a reliable data provider for commercial clients worldwide for KYC/AML screening, legal compliance, and in-depth investigative analysis. You will be turning inbound sales leads into long-lived partnerships. This includes introducing them to our product and commercial offerings, negotiating a subscription agreement, and finally ensuring their adoption of OpenSanctions has been a success. Beyond the day-to-day, you will also help us to develop our go-to-market strategy: understand what customers we should target, how to structure our pricing, and what direction product development should take.
In this role you will:
- Help us frame and execute our go to market strategy, including profiling customers, defining pricing, and sharpening our message.
- Coordinate and prioritize the development of sales leads into customer relationships.
- Understand what our customers’ business requirements and needs are, and how OpenSanctions may fit into that.
- Communicate honestly about the benefits and limitations of our product.
- Negotiate mutually attractive commercial arrangements with prospective customers, including price and contract adaptations.
- Help maintain our sales CRM to make sure we stay on top of the substantial number of inbound leads we’re accumulating over sales cycles of several months and longer.
- Work with our customer success and technical team to ensure a great customer experience during integration and that customer needs are reflected in the product development agenda.
- Develop and deliver compelling sales collateral - from slide decks to case studies to share with our prospective customers
About you:
- You have experience in B2B SaaS/DaaS sales and contract negotiations.
- You communicate clearly in writing and in video calls with a truly global group of interested parties.
- You’re comfortable shaping contract terms, handling procurement processes, and steering deals to win-win outcomes.
- You can work independently, are keen to develop new procedures and help frame our product strategy.
- You can track your own performance metrics and share them with the team, while optimizing your approach to your goals.
- Optional: You have experience in the fintech/anti-financial crime industries.
- Optional: You have experience using HubSpot or similar CRM tools.
Working at OpenSanctions:
- Flexible working hours and an unbureaucratic work environment.
- We’re building a small business, not a grind-you-to-the-bones startup.
- We’re developing a really cool product that is getting adopted rapidly.
- We regularly work together in a co-working space in Berlin Wedding. Flexible use of home office and remote work. We will consider applications from within three time zones of Europe (CET +/- 3).
- Employment under German law for residents, or freelance contract if outside Germany.
- Base salary and success-based renumeration.
The Application Process:
We are looking for the right candidate and don’t have a deadline for this position, however we will have more concrete next steps in the hiring process once we begin interviews and will share the steps with you as we begin the process. The steps will be:
- Calls with the CEO and our commercial lead
- Potentially a short practical exercise
- Offer
