Grzegorz Bierecki

Senator of the 8 th, 9 and 10 term Senate Born on 28 September 1963 in Gdynia. In 1989, he graduated from the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Gdańsk, and in 1996, post-graduate studies at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the same university. He is a banker. In the years 1992-2012, he was the President of the National Cooperative Savings and Credit Union (SKOK) in Sopot, and in 2012-2014, he served as the Chairman of its Supervisory Board. Since 2008 he has been the President of SKOK Holding S.A.R.L. in Luxembourg, and since 2010, the President of Sanitas Foundation of the Specialist Medical Centre. He also works as the President of the Spółdzielczy Instytut Naukowy (Cooperative Scientific Institute) in Sopot. Between 1989 and 1991, he was the head of the NSZZ ‘Solidarność’ National Committee in Gdańsk. He sits on the Supervisory Boards of several companies and foundations. In 1990-2011, he was the President of the Fundacja na rzecz Polskich Związków Kredytowych (Foundation for Polish Credit Unions) in Sopot. In 2001-2013 he held the position of the Deputy Chairman, and in 2013-2015 – the Chairman of the World Council of Credit Unions Inc. in Madison (USA). Since 1996, he has been chairing the Supervisory Board of F. Stefczyk SKOK. Between 1998 and 2012, he was a member of the General Assembly of the National Cooperative Council. In the 8 th term Senate, he was the Deputy Chairman of the Budget and Public Finance Committee. In the 9 th term Senate, he served as the Chairman of the Budget and Public Finance Committee. He is a founding member of the Society for Promotion of Financial Education. In 2007, President Lech Kaczyński awarded him the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. In 2017, he was awarded the Cross of Freedom and Solidarity by President Andrzej Duda. He has no political party affiliation.
