It operates the Gabon international flag registry, which has been flagging vessels transporting Russian crude oil or petroleum products following the beginning of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, including vessels controlled by Sovcomflot. Through its owner’s family relations and its Indian office, registered as Intershipping Services Hub Private Limited, Intershipping Services LLC is also operating the Comoros international flag registry, which has been flagging vessels transporting Russian crude oil or petroleum products following the introduction of Western restrictive measures against Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet”. Several vessels flagged through the Gabon and Comoros international flag registries have regularly engaged in high-risk shipping practices. Such practices include not maintaining adequate liability insurance, carrying out unsafe operations, intentionally taking measures to avoid ship detection such as switching off their Automatic Identification Systems or not operating under a transparent corporate governance policy that assures the welfare and safety of those on board and the protection of the marine environment.
