À la suite du mouvement “Femmes, vie, liberté”, lancé en septembre 2022, le Front Paydari, sous la houlette de M. Mahsouli, a joué un rôle essentiel dans l’adoption de la loi draconienne sur le hidjab et sur la chasteté. M. Mahsouli est un ancien conseiller de l’ancien président Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Il est également ancien membre du Conseil du discernement du bien de l’ordre islamique et ancien chef adjoint du Front de persévérance. Il a été ministre des affaires sociales et de la sécurité sociale entre 2009 et 2011. Ministre de l’intérieur jusqu’en août 2009. À ce titre, M. Mahsouli exerçait une autorité sur l’ensemble des forces de police, des agents de sécurité du ministère de l’intérieur et des agents en civil. Les forces placées sous ses ordres ont été responsables de l’assaut contre la résidence universitaire de Téhéran le 14 juin 2009 et des actes de torture infligés à des étudiants dans le sous-sol du ministère (le tristement célèbre niveau 4). The Paydari Front has long been active in state capture practices, infiltrating institutions and indoctrinating the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). In the wake of the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement, launched in September 2022, the Paydari Front, under the leadership of Mahsouli, played a critical role in pushing through the draconian hijab and chastity laws. Mahsouli is a former advisor to former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He is also a former member of the Expediency Council and former Deputy Chief of the Perseverance Front. He was Minister of Welfare and Social Security between 2009 and 2011 and Minister of the Interior until August 2009. As Minister of the Interior, Mahsouli had authority over all police forces, interior ministry security agents, and plain-clothes agents. The forces under his direction were responsible for attacks on the dormitories of Tehran University on 14 June 2009 and the torture of students in the basement of the Ministry (the notorious basement level 4).
