Function/rank: Commander of CODECO/Alliance pour le Développement du Congo (CODECO/ALC)

Justin Maki Gesi holds a leading position as Commander of the ALC/CODECO, a non-governmental armed group operating in North-Eastern DRC (especially Ituri). Owing to his leading position in the CODECO/ALC, Justin Maki Gesi is therefore involved in planning, directing or committing acts that constitute serious human rights violations or abuses in the DRC. He is also responsible for sustaining the armed conflict, instability and insecurity in the DRC. The ALC/CODECO sustains the armed conflict, instability and insecurity in the DRC and is responsible for serious human rights abuses in that country, in particular through the use of children as combatants, abductions, killings of and attacks against civilians, such as the attack on the villages of Nyamamba and Mbogi on 13 January 2023 after which more than 40 victims were found.

Justin Maki Gesi occupe une fonction dirigeante en tant que commandant de l’ALC/CODECO, un groupe armé non gouvernemental opérant dans le nord-est de la RDC (en particulier l’Ituri). L’ALC/CODECO entretient le conflit armé, l’instabilité et l’insécurité en RDC et est responsable de graves atteintes aux droits de l’homme dans ce pays, en particulier en utilisant des enfants comme combattants, en se livrant à des enlèvements, à des assassinats de civils et à des attaques contre ceux-ci, telles que l’attaque menée contre les villages de Nyamamba et de Mbogi le 13 janvier 2023, à la suite de laquelle plus de 40 victimes ont été retrouvées. En raison de ses fonctions dirigeantes au sein du CODECO/ALC, Justin Maki Gesi contribue donc, en les planifiant, dirigeant ou commettant, à des actes constituant de graves violations des droits de l’homme ou de graves atteintes à ces droits en RDC. Il est également responsable d’entretenir le conflit armé, l’instabilité et l’insécurité en RDC.
