OJSC Belavia Belarusian Airlines is the state-owned national flag carrier airline. Belavia also owns and operates Belarusian governmental airplanes used by President Aliaksandr Lukashenka. Aliaksandr Lukashenka promised that his administration would provide all possible support to Belavia after the Union decided to introduce a prohibition on the overflight of Union airspace and on access to Union airports by all Belarusian air carriers. To that end, he agreed with the Russian President Vladimir Putin on planning the opening of new airline routes for Belavia. In 2021, Belavia’s CEO confirmed receiving government support in the restoration of flights to the Russian Federation. The flag carrier airline has also been exempted from paying added value tax by the Belarusian government in respect of aircraft and components imported into the territory of the Republic of Belarus. Furthermore, in 2014, Belavia received loans for the acquisition of new aircraft from a state-owned bank. Belavia’s management also told its employees not to protest against election irregularities and mass detentions in Belarus, in view of the fact that Belavia is a state-owned enterprise. Belavia is therefore benefitting from and supporting the Lukashenka regime.

La société par actions ouverte (OJSC) Belavia Belarusian Airlines est la compagnie aérienne nationale d’État. En outre, Belavia possède et exploite des avions gouvernementaux biélorusses utilisés par le président Aliaksandr Loukachenka. Aliaksandr Loukachenka a promis que son administration fournirait tout le soutien possible à Belavia après que l’Union a décidé d’instaurer une interdiction de survol de l’espace aérien de l’Union et d’accès aux aéroports de l’Union pour tous les transporteurs aériens biélorusses. Pour ce faire, il est convenu avec le président russe Vladimir Poutine de préparer l’ouverture de nouvelles liaisons aériennes pour Belavia. En 2021, le PDG de Belavia a confirmé qu’il bénéficiait d’une aide publique pour rétablir les vols à destination de la Fédération de Russie. La compagnie aérienne nationale a également été exemptée du paiement de la taxe sur la valeur ajoutée par le gouvernement biélorusse en ce qui concerne les aéronefs et les composants importés sur le territoire de la République de Biélorussie. En outre, en 2014, Belavia a reçu des prêts d’une banque d’État pour l’acquisition de nouveaux aéronefs. La direction de Belavia a en outre interdit à ses employés de protester contre les irrégularités électorales et les emprisonnements massifs en Biélorussie, compte tenu du fait que Belavia est une entreprise d’État. Belavia tire donc profit du régime de Loukachenka et le soutient.
