Vijay Kumar Malhotra

Senior Lecturer and Reader, P.G.D.A.V. College, University of Delhi, Delhi (for 36 years); Chairman, (i) Committee on Property Tax, Delhi Administration; and (ii) Delhi Co-operative Housing Finance Limited; Member, (i) Samsad (Court) of Visva Bharati; (ii) Planning Board of Delhi; and (iii) National Co-operative Housing Federation of India; Former Chairman, Governing Body, Indira Gandhi Sports and Physical Institute; took active part in agitations as a student leader; a leader of refugees and also as a political leader and was arrested and imprisoned several times; was arrested in 1953 along with Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherji, Shri N.C. Chatterjee and other eminent leaders under the Preventive Detention Act; and released under the orders of the Supereme Court; spent six months in Jail for Satyagrah to make Jammu & Kashmir an integral part of India; narrowly escaped a bullet in police firing in the cow protection campaign in 1966 and was kept in jail for fifteen days; arrested during Emergency and detained for 19 months in jails in Delhi, Ambala, Chandigarh and Hissar; and had to be admitted in the PGI Medical Institute, Chandigarh; participated in active protests for the causes of general public, workers, scheduled castes, traders, teachers, government servants and deprived classes on more than 200 occasions and was jailed many times
