His family has been associated with the freedom struggle; His grandfather, Barrister Shah Zubair represented Bihar in Council of States. He was an eminent freedom fighter, a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi and was President of Bihar and Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee. His father, Late Shah Mustaque Ahmed was Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly. He was Chairman of Bihar State Sunni Waqf Board and Bihar State Urdu Academy; started career as a journalist; Founder Editor, Chhatra, a Fortnightly tabloid in Hindi published from Patna, 1972-74; Editor, Yuvak Dhara, first a weekly tabloid and later a fortnightly magazine published from Patna from 1974 and later published form Delhi since 1982; Editor, Tanzeem Times, a monthly magazine in English published from New Delhi since 1986; Chief Editor, Sadakat Vani, a monthly magazine in Hindi published from Patna since 1988; Founder Editor, Rashtrawadi Sankalp, a weekly newspaper in Hindi published from Mumbai since 2001. He visited diferent countries • Represented as a member of Indian Delegation of World Youth festival in Cuba in 1978. • Member, Indian Parliamentary Delegation headed by the Hon’ble Speaker, Lok Sabha at the Inter Parliamentary Conference held in Ottawa (Canada) in 1985. • Member, Indian Parliamentary Delegation at the Inter Parliamentary Conference held in Bulgaria in 1987. • Member, Indian Goodwill Haj Delegation to Saudi Arabia in 1988. • Member of the Indian Delegation to the United Nations, October, 2006. • Member of the Indian Delegation to the 63rd Annual Session of United Nations General Assembly, October, 2008. • Member of Indian Parliamentary Delegation to participate in the Meeting of Standing Committee on Political Affairs and ad-hoc working Group on ICT of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly held in 2010 in Tehran (Ran). • Participated in World Agriculture Ministers` Conference at Berlin (Germany) in 2013 & 2014. • Participated in Asian Agriculture Ministers` Conference at Bangkok (Thailand) in 2014. • Visited Bangladesh, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Cuba, France, Germany, Holland, Iran, Italy, Nepal, Pakistan, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Thailand, U.A.E., U.K., Ukraine and U.S.A. as member of Parliamentary Delegation and in other capacities.
