He is from Singhania Tea Estate, Alipurduar, West Bengal. Comes from a very humble background from TRIBAL (ORAON) community. 7 siblings. Father and mother worked in Tea Garden with a minimum wage barely to feed the 9 members. He had been to Government Hindi medium School and has pursued B.Sd. in Biology from Government College. He was offered the post of Clerk in the tea garden in 1996. He used to help his parents in the paddy fields in growing crops and even worked in the tea garden as labour for extra income to support his family. Was appointed a Primary School Teacher in 2000 till 2016 and became MLA in 2016. He is two time MLA from Madarihat Assembly Constituency, Alipurduar West Bengal from BJP. First in 2016 and then in 2021. He was also a chief opposition whip of BJP legislature, West Bengal. Now elected as a Member of Parliament in recent 18th Lok Sabha General Election 2024.
