Descriptions

The Federal Government of Nigeria on 29th November 2021 by Government Notice 169 gazette Yan Taadda Group as terrorist organisation. The group is engaged in committing, participated in committing, instigated the commission, facilitated the commission of several acts of terrorism including but not limited to banditry, kidnap for ransom, kidnap for marriage, mass abduction of school children and other citizens, cattle rustling, enslavement, imprisonment, severe deprivation of physical liberty, torture, rape, sexual slavery, enforced prostitution, forced pregnancy, other forms of sexual violence, attacks and killings in communities and other commuters and wanton destruction of lives and properties in Nigeria. The activities of the group started as rural banditry dated back to pre-colonial era in Dan Sadau area of Zamfara State. Some traditional rulers around Dan Sadau area were accused of colluding with bandits in Armed Robbery and Cattle Rustling in 1981. During the earlier mentioned period, bandits killed about 210 traders in Dan Sadau area. Around 2011, the crisis started as traditional farmer-herder conflicts but have now metamorphosed into full blown conflicts and crises in the country. More recently they are engaged in kidnap for ransom, cattle rustling, mass killing of innocent civilians, sexual exploitations and other heinous acts. The group has been operating over the years largely within Kaduna Abuja Road, Sokoto, Katsina, and its environs, Niger State, some parts of Kebbi, Zamfara and the entire North-west region and more recently Zaria and its metropolis. However, it also has regional network and collaborative efforts with other groups such as ISGS, BHT, JNIM and AQIM. Halilu Subudu and Kachalla Turji are the major kingpins of the group in Shinkafi Local Government of Zamfara State. Abubakar Abdallah (Dogo Gide) a commander of the group, they operate in Kaduna and Niger State. His group has contact and connection with ISWAP and Boko Haram and was responsible for kidnaping of 102 Staff and Students of Federal Govt. Girls College, Yauri on 18th Jun, 2021. Yellow Jan-Bros is another Commander of the Group operating in Birnin Grawi Forest and Giwa ares of Kaduna State. He and his group were responsible for the kidnapping of 136 Islamiyya Students in Tagina Village, Kafi LGA, Niger State on 30th May 2021. Other Commanders are Alhaji Bodere and Alhaji Beleri (Operating in Sabon Birni and Giwa Local Governments of Kaduna), Yellow Ashana (Operating in Sabon Garin Gyadam, Kaduna State), Ali Kawaje (Ali Kachalla) (operating in Birnin Gwari and Kagara, Niger State), Alhaji Isiya, Buhari General and Gannaje (Operating along Abuja-Kaduna Highway), Alhaji Ado Aleru (Operating in Chafe LGA as well as some parts of katsina and Zamfara), Dangote Bazamfare, Dankarami.
