State Security Branch of Idlib (Branch 331)

The State Security branch of Idlib (Branch 331) is a branch of the General Intelligence Service. It has similar departments to those of the central branches in Damascus, and they have the same subject-matter jurisdiction and the same functions but within the governorate. Each branch has departments and detachments that operate across the governorate. Each town or village has a security officer in charge, responsible for the summonses by security branches and for making security reports. Opposition sources revealed the killing of the former Head of the State Security branch of Idlib, Brigadier General Ghassan Jamil Akil, amid a media blackout.

أحد فروع جهاز المخابرات العامة. توجد فيه أقسام مشابهة للفروع المركزية بدمشق، وتتمتع بنفس اختصاصاتها ولها نفس عملها لكن في حدود المحافظة. ويتبع لكل فرع منها أقسام ومفارز تتوزع في مختلف أرجاء المحافظة، ولكل بلدة أو قرية عنصر أمني مسؤول عنها وعن إجراء الدراسات الأمنية فيها وعن عمليات الاستدعاء للفروع الأمنية . ورصدت مصادر معارضة مقتل رئيس فرع أمن الدولة في إدلب سابقاً العميد الركن "غسان جميل عاقل" وسط تكتم إعلامي.
