The Baath Brigades (or the Baath Commandos Regiment) is a volunteer militia composed of members of the Syrian Ba’ath Party. It was founded by Hilal Hilal in Aleppo, who is the current Assistant Regional Secretary of the party. It participated in a number of battles, most notably: the Battle of Aleppo (2012-2016), Operation Star of Suhail, Operation Rainbow, Aleppo Offensive (July 2015), Kuweires Offensive (September-November 2015), Aleppo Offensive (October-December 2015), Hama Offensive (March–April 2017). It was dissolved in 2018. It was once deployed in Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Latakia, Tartous, Damascus, Sweida and Hasaka, with an approximate number of 15,000.
