Military Security Shield Forces

شكلت قوات درع الأمن العسكري في يناير 2016 كوحدة شبه عسكريه مستقلة تابعة لفرع شعبة الاستخبارات العسكرية 223 في محافظة اللاذقية، وربما في محاولة لتعزيز نفوذ هذه الأخيرة والتعويض عن النقص الواسع في القوى العاملة الذي تعاني منه الحكومة منذ بداية الحرب الأهلية. تنتشر في البادية السورية واللاذقية وحلب ودير الزور

The Military Security Shield Forces were founded in January 2016 as an independent paramilitary unit of the Military Intelligence Directorate’s Branch 223 in the governorate of Latakia, probably in an attempt to further the latter’s influence and to compensate for the severe manpower shortages from which the government suffered since the civil war’s beginning. It operates in al-Badia, Latakia, Aleppo, and Deir al-Zor.
