DescriptionThe tanker, during the period of the G7 and EU oil embargo and the price cap policy on russian crude oil/petroleum products, is involved in the export of russian crude oil/petroleum products. br In particular, in February 2025, the tanker transported more than 661,000 barrels of russian petroleum products (seller PJSC Surgutneftegaz) for ship-to-ship transfer in the area of the port of Tanjong Pelepas in Malaysia. br Until May 2022, the tanker in particular through the sanctioned company Sun Ship Management (UAE), affiliated with the sanctioned PJSC Sovcomflot, the largest state-owned shipping company in russia providing services and support for offshore hydrocarbon production and the transportation of russian crude oil, petroleum products, and liquefied gas. The main charterers of Sovcomflot PJSC vessels are russia's largest oil and gas companies and traders. Sovcomflot PJSC is involved in servicing major oil and gas projects in russia: Sakhalin-1, Sakhalin-2, Varandey, Prirazlomnoye, Novy Port, Yamal LNG, and others. br After sanctions were imposed on Sovcomflot PJSC in 2022, following russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the ship changed its owner and management company. Since May 2022, the ship has been owned by Polo Crude Carriers SA, a single-ship company incorporated in the Marshall Islands, with Sealion Tankers Inc, registered in the Marshall Islands, as commercial manager and Executive Ship Management Pte Ltd (Singapore) as technical manager. The Sealion Tankers Inc. fleet includes another tanker, IMO 9826897, affiliated through the sanctioned company Sun Ship Management (UAE) with the sanctioned PJSC Sovcomflot. As of January 28, 2026, the fleet of Executive Ship Management Pte Ltd includes 101 vessels (tankers for transporting crude oil, petroleum products, LNG tankers, LPG tankers, bulk carriers, etc.), including tankers IMO 9826897, IMO 9826732, affiliated with PJSC Sovcomflot, IMO 9340116, IMO 9374416, which call at ports in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. br The vessel is involved in the oil sector of the russian federation's economy, the income from which is one of the most important sources of revenue for the aggressor state's budget. br On December 13, 2025, Ukraine imposed sanctions on the vessel. br On February 21, 2026, Ukraine imposed sanctions on the master of the vessel.[sources]
