Gedo Hamdan is a Regional Commander for North Darfur Section and Brigadier General of the RSF. He has been identified as a key perpetrator of the atrocities committed by the RSF in El Fasher in October 2025. Gedo Hamdan is therefore responsible for committing acts in Sudan that constitute serious human rights violations or abuses, as well as violations of international humanitarian law. He is also responsible for actions that threaten the peace, stability or security of Sudan.

Gedo Hamdan Ahmed was sanctioned by the UN on 24/02/2026 on the following ground: Listed pursuant to paragraph 3(c) of UN Security Council Resolution 1591 (2005). As a Lieutenant General and Deputy commander of the RSF, AHMED is an individual who impedes the peace process, constitutes a threat to stability in Darfur and the region and has committed violations of international humanitarian or human rights law or other atrocities.
