Vladimir Putin has reportedly made numerous trips aboard the yacht, including a 2021 voyage in the Black Sea with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, who supported and facilitated the russian federation’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. A few weeks prior to russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, the yacht was relocated from the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg (Germany), where it had been undergoing modernization, to Kaliningrad (russia). In June 2022, the United States designated GRACEFUL as blocked property under sanctions.
