Il n’a pas condamné les graves violations des droits de l’homme commises par les responsables iraniens lors des manifestations de 2022/2023. À l’inverse, il a déclaré personnellement qu’il convient de priver les femmes violant les règles relatives au port du voile de leurs droits sociaux et a plaidé pour le recours à la force dans l’appréhension de celles-ci. Il tente également de blanchir les crimes perpétrés par les forces iraniennes en défendant la version des faits du gouvernement en ce qui concerne la mort de Mahsa Amini.
