Alexander Akopov est membre du conseil académique de l’école supérieure d’économie (Higher School of Economics – HSE). En mars 2022, le recteur de la HSE a annoncé que l’Université financerait l’éducation, dans ses principaux programmes éducatifs, des participants à la soi-disant “opération militaire spéciale”, de leurs enfants et de leurs proches. In March 2022, the Rector of the HSE announced that the University will fund the education, in its main educational programmes, of participants in the so-called “special military operation”, their children and close relatives. Furthermore, in 2025, the HSE launched a new master’s programme focused on the circumvention of international sanctions, thereby supporting the Russian Government by facilitating such circumvention. Therefore, Alexander Akopov is supporting actions and policies which undermine and threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Alexander Akopov is the former Deputy CEO of National Media Group (NMG), a large media holding controlling media outlets which are actively spreading propaganda and disinformation related to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. He is former deputy to Svetlana Balanova, head of NMG. National Media Group is the founder of 28 media enterprises in Russia, including Channel One, Channel 5, REN TV and STS, 78.ru and others, the national newspaper Izvestia, and Delovoy Peterburg.
