Unicameral federal legislature, with half of its members elected by emirate electoral colleges and half appointed by the rulers of the emirates
Current and recent members of the Federal National Council of the UAE, the country's unicameral federal parliamentary body. Its 40 seats are allocated among the seven emirates; half of the members are elected by each emirate's electoral college and half are appointed by its ruler, for a four-year term. The council reviews and amends federal draft laws, discusses the federal budget, and questions ministers.
The dataset covers the members of the sitting legislative term and of the term before it. Members who leave mid-term may remain listed after they have left.
