Mohammad Sadegh Akbari est le juge en chef de la province de Mazandaran. À ce titre, il est responsable d’avoir prononcé de condamnations à mort à l’issue de procès inéquitables (absence d’avocats, aveux forcés) et de la torture de détenus. Au cours des manifestations de 2022/2023, il a été responsable de la fermeture de magasins qui ne respectaient pas les lois sur le hijab et de la condamnation à mort d’un manifestant de 35 ans ayant un trouble mental, qui aurait brûlé un coran. Il est donc responsable de graves violations des droits de l’homme en Iran.
