Head of Penal Colony No.°4 for women in Gomel

In her position of Head of Penal Colony No.°4 for women in Gomel, Sviatlana Pakhodava is responsible for the inhuman and degrading treatment, including torture, inflicted on the political prisoners and other citizens detained in that female penal colony. She was already the head of the penal colony at the time of the prosecution of Maria Kalesnikava, a political prisoner who was handed an 11-year custodial sentence for her participation in the protests against the authoritarian rule of Aliaksandr Lukashenko in the penal colony. She was deprived of all prisoner rights, including the right to consult a lawyer. She is therefore responsible for serious violations of human rights and the repression of civil society in Belarus.

En sa qualité de cheffe de la colonie pénitentiaire no 4 pour femmes, située à Gomel, Sviatlana Pakhodava est responsable des traitements inhumains et dégradants, y compris la torture, infligés aux prisonnières politiques et aux autres citoyennes détenues dans cette colonie pénitentiaire pour femmes. Elle était déjà cheffe de cette colonie pénitentiaire lors des poursuites contre Maria Kalesnikava, une prisonnière politique qui a été condamnée à onze ans de prison pour avoir participé aux manifestations contre le régime autoritaire d'Aliaksandr Loukachenka dans la colonie pénitentiaire. Celle-ci a été privée de tous les droits dont disposent les détenus, notamment le droit de consulter un avocat. Sviatlana Pakhodava est donc responsable de graves violations des droits de l'homme et de la répression de la société civile en Biélorussie.
