Ghassan Jaoudat Ismail

Head of the Syrian Air Force Intelligence Service since 2019. Former deputy director of the Air Force Intelligence Service and previously in charge of the missions branch of the Air Force Intelligence Service which, in cooperation with the special operations branch, manages the elite troops of the Air Force Intelligence Service, who play an important role in the repression conducted by the Syrian regime. As such, Ghassan Jaoudat Ismail is one of the top military leaders directly implementing the violent repression of opponents conducted by the Syrian regime as well as practices of disappearance of civilians.

Chef du service de renseignement de l'armée de l'air syrienne depuis 2019. Ancien directeur adjoint du service de renseignement de l'armée de l'air, chargé auparavant de la branche des missions du service de renseignement de l'armée de l'air qui gère, en coopération avec la branche des opérations spéciales, les troupes d'élites du service de renseignement de l'armée de l'air, qui jouent un rôle important dans la répression exercée par le régime syrien. À ce titre, Ghassan Jaoudat Ismail est l'un des principaux responsables militaires qui mettent en œuvre directement la répression menée par le régime syrien contre les opposants et participent à la disparition de civils.

المدير الحالي لإدارة المخابرات الجوية السورية ابتداء من ٧ يوليو ٢٠١٩، خلفا لجميل حسن. شغل منصب نائب المدير لنفس الجهاز، وقبل ذلك عمل في فرع أمن الدولة في السويداء عام 2016، ورئيس فرع المهام الخاصة (الجوية) عام 2011. لديه من الأشقاء عمار (قتلته المعارضة بعد أسره)، زياد (قاتل في صفوف الشبيحة وقتل)، سامر (قاض في محكمة الإرهاب). شملته العقوبات الأوروبية. فرضت عليه العقوبات الأمريكية في 09/11/2020. فرضت عليه العقوبات الأوروبية في 24/07/2012 شملته العقوبات البريطانية في 15/11/2011

Ghassan Ismail has been the current Director of the Syrian Air Force Intelligence Directorate since 7 July 2019, succeeding Jamil Hasan. He held the position of Deputy Director of the same Directorate. He had also worked in the State Security branch of Sweida in 2016 and as the Head of the Special Tasks Branch (Air Force) in 2011. His brothers are Ammar (the opposition arrested and killed him), Ziad (who fought with the Shabiha and was killed), and Samer (a Judge in the terrorism court). Ismail was sanctioned by the UK on 15 November 2011, the EU on 24 July 2012 and the US on 9 November 2020.
