Kan Zaw

Kan Zaw has been the Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations since 19 August 2022. He was appointed by the State Administrative Council (SAC), led by Commander-in-Chief Min Aung Hlaing, which took over the legislative, executive and judicial powers of the State as of 2 February 2021. He was previously appointed by the SAC as the Union Auditor-General following the 1 February 2021 coup. As Government Minister, he forms part of the military regime which seized power during a military coup and overthrew legitimately elected leaders in Myanmar/Burma. As Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, he is in charge of facilitating business and investments in Myanmar/Burma and cooperation with foreign partners. In that capacity, Kan Zaw takes an active role in supporting the military’s efforts to attract foreign investment, thereby contributing to securing the financial needs of the military regime. Therefore, he is responsible for undermining democracy and the rule of law in Myanmar/Burma as well as for engaging in actions that threaten the peace, security and stability of Myanmar. Additionally, he is associated with several high-level figures of the military regime, including Commander-in-Chief Min Aung Hlaing.

Kan Zaw est ministre de l’investissement et des relations économiques extérieures depuis le 19 août 2022. Il a été nommé par le Conseil d’administration de l’État (SAC), dirigé par le commandant en chef Min Aung Hlaing, qui s’est emparé des pouvoirs législatif, exécutif et judiciaire de l’État à partir du 2 février 2021. Il avait été précédemment nommé auditeur général de l’Union par le SAC à la suite du coup d’État du 1er février 2021. En sa qualité de ministre du gouvernement, il fait partie du régime militaire qui a pris le pouvoir dans le cadre d’un coup d’État militaire et renversé les dirigeants légitimement élus du Myanmar/de la Birmanie. En tant que ministre de l’investissement et des relations économiques extérieures, il est chargé de faciliter le commerce et les investissements au Myanmar/en Birmanie et la coopération avec les partenaires étrangers. En cette qualité, Kan Zaw joue un rôle actif pour soutenir les efforts déployés par l’armée pour attirer les investissements étrangers, contribuant ainsi à couvrir les besoins financiers du régime militaire. Par conséquent, il est responsable d’avoir porté atteinte à la démocratie et à l’état de droit au Myanmar/en Birmanie, ainsi que d’avoir participé à des actions qui menacent la paix, la sécurité et la stabilité du Myanmar/de la Birmanie. En outre, il est associé à plusieurs personnalités de haut niveau du régime militaire, dont le commandant en chef Min Aung Hlaing.
