In his position of Chief Spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defence he has been responsible for manipulating information and spreading disinformation about Russian military actions in Ukraine. He promoted a positive attitude to the Russian unprovoked military aggression against Ukraine, the annexation of Crimea and the actions of separatists in Donbas, portrayed the situation in Ukraine in a biased manner and spread disinformation about Ukrainian and Western activities.

Igor Evgenievich Konashenkov est chef du département de l'information et des communications du ministère de la défense de la Fédération de Russie, avec le rang de général de division. En sa qualité de porte-parole principal du ministère russe de la défense, il a été responsable de manipulation de l'information et de diffusion d'éléments de désinformation sur les actions militaires russes en Ukraine.
