In Nov 2014, his role in the deaths of detainees was officially recognised by the Iranian authorities. He was acquitted by an Iranian Court on 19 Aug 2015, on charges connected to the torture and deaths of three young men at the Kahrizak detention centre in 2009. Sentenced to prison in 2017 and released in Sep 2019. In Aug 2021, Iran’s Supreme Court issued a ruling in full support of Said Mortazavi, overturning his earlier two-year jail sentence. Head of the Welfare System from 2011 to 2013. Prosecutor General of Tehran until Aug 2009. As Prosecutor General of Tehran, he issued a blanket order used for the detention of hundreds of activists, journalists and students. In Jan 2010, a parliamentary investigation held him directly responsible for the detention of three prisoners who subsequently died in custody. He was suspended from office in Aug 2010 after an investigation by the Iranian judiciary into his role in the deaths of the three men detained on his orders following the election.

A été suspendu de ses fonctions en août 2010 après enquête du pouvoir judiciaire iranien au sujet de sa responsabilité dans la mort des trois hommes emprisonnés sur ses ordres à la suite de l’élection. En novembre 2014, les autorités iraniennes ont officiellement reconnu le rôle qu’il a joué dans les décès de détenus. Il a été acquitté par un tribunal iranien le 19 août 2015, pour des accusations liées à la torture et à la mort de trois jeunes hommes au centre de détention de Kahrizak en 2009. Condamné à une peine de prison en 2017 et libéré en septembre 2019. En août 2021, la Cour suprême iranienne a rendu un arrêt pleinement favorable à Said Mortazavi, annulant sa condamnation antérieure à une peine de deux ans de prison.
