DescriptionRoll-on/roll-off vessel, which was observed transporting containers between the Russian Federation and the DPRK between late August and December 2023 while periodically turning off its AIS signal. · The vessel has been implicated in the transportation of weapons (ammunition) from the DPRK and South Africa to russia. The vessel is certified by the russian Maritime Register of Shipping. Until December 2024, it was owned and operated by the sanctioned russian shipping company MG-Flot LLC (ООО "МГ-Флот", formerly Transmorflot LLC), associated with Astrakhan businessman Jamaldin Emirmagomedovich Pashayev, who built his business around the russian commercial port of Olya in the Astrakhan region. At the stage of creation and construction, the port was proposed as the main logistics hub of the North–South international transport corridor, the key purpose of which was trade with sanctioned Iran. The creation and construction of the port was overseen and controlled by former russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov. Since December 2024, the vessel has been owned and operated by the sanctioned russian shipping company Sovfracht JSC (АО "Совфрахт"), which provides logistical support to the russian Ministry of Defence. In May 2022, the United States imposed sanctions on Transmorflot LLC and its vessels implicated in the transportation of weapons for russia. In June–July 2024, the EU and the United Kingdom also imposed sanctions on the vessel. On October 17, 2024, Switzerland imposed sanctions on the vessel in connection with the transportation of goods and technologies used in the defense and security sector, as well as for use in russia or in the war against Ukraine. On April 2, 2024, the Republic of Korea imposed sanctions on the vessel for transporting weapons to russia and the DPRK in violation of UN Security Council sanctions. On February 21, 2025, Canada imposed sanctions on the vessel.[sources]
