The Central Bank of Syria is the central bank of the Syrian Arab Republic. The Syrian state underwrites its entire capital, and it is by definition an independent public institution that operates under the supervision of the state and with its guarantee in accordance with the directives issued by the Syrian Council of Ministers. Its current governor is Hazem Younis Qarfoul. The Central Bank of Syria is sanctioned by the US and EU.
