One of the most important and oldest branches, as it handles as many files as an entire intelligence directorate would handle. Active internally and externally. Supposed to specialise in activities against Israel and affairs related to the Palestinian movements internally and abroad. However, its mandate has been greatly extended to include following and trying to infiltrate, direct and control Islamic movements; the Counter-Terrorism Sub-Department carries out such tasks. Also charged with monitoring Palestinian refugees residing in Syria. A Guerrilla Police Unit is subordinate to Branch 235. This unit specialises in the Palestine Liberation Army and other armed Palestinian movements formally present on Syrian territory, such as the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command, founded and led by Ahmed Jibril.
