En février 2022, il a parrainé un projet de résolution du parti politique "Russie unie" visant à appeler l’attention du président de la Russie sur la nécessité de reconnaître la soi-disant République populaire de Donetsk et la soi-disant République populaire de Louhansk. Le 4 avril 2022, la Douma d’État a annoncé sa nomination en tant que l’un des coordinateurs des groupes interparlementaires de la Douma sur l’interaction avec les parlements des soi-disant républiques populaires de Donetsk et de Louhansk.
