Data formats

We offer data in multiple formats, each suited to specific tools and use cases.

Try these formats e.g. for our default collection.

• FollowTheMoney-based JSON (recommended): the native format for OpenSanctions data is a graph of JSON objects and is the recommended way to integrate the data into data pipelines.
  • FollowTheMoney Delta Updates provide version-to-version updates of the FollowTheMoney entities in the database.
• Simplified CSV (comma-separated values) tables: The most important fields/properties, best for use in spreadsheet applications such as Excel and simple data analysis.
• Names-only text files: useful for very simple cross-referencing and text search.

Statements-based CSV

Data power users may also want to explore the statement-based CSV format, which provides per-value lineage and language metadata. This identifies the source, language and freshness for each claim (property value) about each entity.

Special interest exports

We have a small selection of exports focused on very specific use cases.

• Securities-centric CSV exports: a custom export of information about public companies and the financial instruments they issue.
• Senzing entity data: data exports generated for use with the Senzing entity resolution engine.
