DescriptionThe vessel is a violator of the Crimean sanctions. For the first time, the tanker was recorded as a violator of the Crimean sanctions on May 12, 2017. The vessel delivered 6,500 tons of diesel fuel from Novorossiysk to the Feodosia oil depot (at that time, the Kerch Bridge did not yet exist, and fuel was delivered to the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula by sea). At least 21 such deliveries were recorded before the Kerch Bridge was put into operation (May 2018). The vast majority of deliveries to the temporarily occupied Feodosia were made with a disabled AIS signal, while the ship officially reported that its destination port was the port of Kavkaz (russian federation). The tanker is involved in the supply of petroleum products to the Syrian group of russian troops in the interests of the russian ministry of defense. The vessel regularly delivered gasoline and diesel fuel from the Feodosia oil depot to the Syrian port of Tartus for the purpose of supplying russian troops in Syria, including the russian Navy's "Syrian squadron." The tanker usually turned off its AIS in the Mediterranean Sea as it approached Cyprus, then continued to Tartus with its AIS signal turned off. The ship was used to supply fuel to russian troops in syria after sanctions were imposed on JSC Sovfracht, which manages the tanker. JSC Sovfracht is one of russia's largest transport and forwarding companies and plays a key role in the military transport network of russian cargo ships that deliver North Korean weapons to military facilities, which are then transported to weapons depots on russia's western border for use in the war against Ukraine. In September 2019, USA imposed sanctions on the tanker for providing material support to the sanctioned JSC Sovfracht. On August 4, 2023, the tanker was holed after an attack in the Black Sea south of the Kerch Strait. In June 2025, the ship was involved in transportation between russia and Iran via the Caspian Sea. In June 2025, the ship sailed from the port of Astrakhan to the port of Amirabad.[sources]
