| Description | In June 2024, as part of the restrictions imposed on the energy sector of the russian federation, sanctions were imposed on the LNG tanker "Zvezda 045", intended to support the export of the large-capacity project of the sanctioned PJSC Novatek, Arctic LNG-2. The vessel is being built by the sanctioned russian vesselbuilding company Zvezda vesselbuilding Complex LLC. Zvezda vesselbuilding Complex LLC is a project of strategic importance for the Far East region and the russian vesselbuilding industry, which is being implemented on behalf of the President and the Government of the russian federation by a consortium of Rosneftegaz, Rosneft and Gazprombank. The company is russia's first large-tonnage vesselyard for the needs of russian customers in the construction of offshore equipment to support the extraction of natural resources on the continental shelf of russia, including drilling platforms that can operate year-round in the Arctic, as well as commercial vessels for the transport of goods by inland and outer sea routes. Since August 2024, the owner of "Zvezda 045" has been registered as a sanctioned russian company, Novatek, the largest russian independent gas producer engaged in the exploration, production, processing and sale of natural gas and liquid hydrocarbons. | [sources] | |||
