Ilya Sorokin, alias “Dr Evil”, is a medic at the Penal Colony No 10 in Mordovia in Russia. Prisoners of war (POWs) detained there recall inhumane and degrading treatment, ranging from sexual abuse to other physical abuse and indoctrination. That degrading behaviour is a violation of the Geneva Conventions. Ilya Sorokin refused to treat the Ukrainian POWs held at the Penal Colony No 10 in Mordovia. He repeatedly electrocuted POWs, made them bark, made them sing Russian patriotic songs, and subjected them to other degrading behaviour. Ilya Sorokin openly supports Russia’s military past and the ongoing war in Ukraine, and regularly posts nationalist and pro-war content on his social media, including the prominent “Z” symbol. Therefore, Ilya Sorokin is supporting actions and policies which undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.
