Vali Esmaeli est un législateur partisan de la ligne dure ainsi que le chef de la Commission sociale du parlement iranien. Il fait partie des 227 membres du parlement qui ont signé, le 6 novembre 2022, une déclaration faisant l’éloge des forces de sécurité pour avoir exécuté des manifestants et exhortant le système judiciaire à accélérer les procès et à condamner les manifestants à mort en les déclarant coupables de “Moharebeh” ou “guerre contre Dieu”. Esmaeli a qualifié les manifestants “d’agents étrangers” et a justifié les violations des droits de l’homme commises par la République islamique d’Iran. En tant que membre du parlement iranien, Esmaeli a soutenu l’exécution, la détention et la torture de personnes lors des manifestations organisées à travers le pays en 2022. Il est donc responsable de graves violations des droits de l’homme en Iran.
