Nikita Anisimov

Nikita Anisimov is the Rector of the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University). In March 2022, he publicly supported Russian military aggression against Ukraine by signing the address of the Russian Union of Rectors. In May 2023, he announced that the HSE University will fund the education, in its main educational programmes, of participants in the so-called “special military operation”, their children and close relatives. In November 2022, Nikita Anisimov received the medal “For Strengthening Military Cooperation” from the Russian Ministry of Defence. In 2023, he visited universities in occupied regions of Ukraine, namely Donetsk and Luhansk. In 2025, the HSE University launched a new master’s programme focused on circumvention of international sanctions, thereby supporting the Russian Government by facilitating such circumvention. Therefore, Nikita Anisimov is supporting actions and policies which undermine the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.
