In taking on and acting in this capacity, Colonel General Yevgeny Nikiforov is responsible for supporting and implementing actions and policies which undermine and threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Colonel General Yevgeny Nikiforov, former Commander of the Western Military District of the Russian Federation, is currently serving as Chief of the General Staff of the Ground Forces of the Russian Federation. Under his command, the Russian Armed Forces are continuing their attacks against Ukraine, in the context of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

Official of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Holds a senior position in the federal state body responsible for the military actions of the Russian armed forces against Ukraine. Heads large divisions of the Russian armed forces as a Commander of the Russian military grouping "North" during Russia's invasion of Ukraine (appointed to the post no later than August 21, 2025). Previosly was appointed on the position of the Commander of the Western Military District on January 23, 2023. He was the Commander of a grouping of Russian troops during the invasion of Ukraine.
