Cousin to Bashar Al Assad

Dhu al-Himma Shalish is a Syrian soldier of the rank of Major General. He was born in Latakia in 1956. He is the cousin of the current Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the Chief of the Presidential Security Guard, and the Head of the Operations Branch in the External Syrian Intelligence. He was one of the former President Hafez al-Assad ’s bodyguards. Shalish was included in the EU sanctions that were imposed in the aftermath of the Syrian crisis. He was sanctioned by the US government for exporting military goods to Saddam Hussein and his regime. Moreover, Dhu al-Himma established a huge contracting company that specialised in roads and dams construction. He also co-founded a telecommunications company in 1998 with his nephew, Firas Issa Shalish, and co-founded with his other nephew, Assef Shalish, SES International Corp., which was accused of smuggling embargoed weapons and military goods to Iraq and Iran between 2000 and 2003. In 2011, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs imposed sanctions against him. Dhu al-Himma Shalish was listed by the US on 9 June 2005, the EU on 23 June 2011, and the UK on 24 June 2011.

عسكري سوري برتبة لواء ولد في مدينة اللاذقية عام 1956 وهو ابن عمة الرئيس السوري الحالي بشار الأسد ورئيس أمنه الرئاسي ورئيس فرع العمليات في المخابرات الخارجية السورية وقد كان من عناصر الحماية الشخصية للرئيس السوري السابق حافظ الأسد.وقد شملته العقوبات التي فرضها الاتحاد الأوروبي على سوريا بعد بدء الأزمة السورية. فرضت عليه عقوبات من قبل حكومة الولايات المتحدة لتوريد أسلحة لصدام حسين وحكومته. أنشأ شركة مقاولات ضخمة تخصصت في شق الطرق وإنشاء السدود. كما شارك بإنشاء شركة اتصالات في ١٩٩٨ مع ابن أخيه فراس عيسى شاليش. واشترك مع ابن أخيه الآخر آصف شاليش في شركة SES التي اتهمت بأنها هربت أسلحة ومعدات عسكرية محظورة للعراق وإيران بين ٢٠٠٠ و ٢٠٠٣. فرضت عليه وزارة الدولة السويسرية للشؤون الاقتصادية في ٢٠١١ عقوبات. فرضت عليه العقوبات الأمريكية في 09/06/2005. فرضت عليه العقوبات الأوروبية في 23/06/2011 شملته العقوبات البريطانيه في 24/06/2011
