Targets persons involved in repressing the civilian population in Syria, in chemical weapons activities, or in undermining democracy, the rule of law or a peaceful transition in Syria. Designated persons are subject to an asset freeze, a travel ban and director disqualification. Country-wide measures prohibit exporting to Syria military goods, chemical and biological weapons-related items, and goods usable for internal repression or for interception and monitoring, and prohibit importing military goods from Syria; most sectoral energy, transport and financial restrictions aimed at the Assad government have been revoked, though dealing in bonds it issued remains prohibited.
