Artsiom Igaravich Sikorski

In his former capacity as the Director of the Aviation Department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus, Artsiom Sikorski was responsible for state management in the sphere of civil aviation and supervision of air traffic control. He therefore bears responsibility for diverting passenger flight FR4978 to Minsk on 23 May 2021 without a proper justification. This politically motivated decision was aimed at arresting and detaining the opposition journalist Raman Pratasevich and Sofia Sapega and is a form of repression against civil society and democratic opposition of Belarus. Following the incident, he gave press statements together with Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, Ihar Holub, justifying the actions of the Belarusian aviation authorities. He is therefore responsible for repression of civil society and democratic opposition and is supporting the Lukashenka regime. He remains active in the Lukashenka regime as the Director General of the BELAERONAVIGATSIA State-Owned Enterprise.

Dans ses anciennes fonctions de directeur du département de l’aviation au ministère biélorusse des transports et des communications, Artsiom Sikorski a été responsable de la gestion de l’État dans le domaine de l’aviation civile et de la surveillance du contrôle de la circulation aérienne. Il porte donc une responsabilité dans le détournement du vol de passagers FR4978 vers l’aéroport de Minsk sans justification valable le 23 mai 2021. Cette décision, motivée par des considérations politiques, visait à arrêter et à détenir le journaliste de l’opposition Raman Pratassevitch et Sofia Sapega et constitue une forme de répression contre la société civile et l’opposition démocratique en Biélorussie. À la suite de cet incident, il a fait des déclarations à la presse avec le commandant de l’armée de l’air et de la défense aérienne des forces armées de la République de Biélorussie, Ihar Holub, pour justifier les actes des autorités biélorusses de l’aviation. Il est donc responsable de la répression de la société civile et de l’opposition démocratique en Biélorussie, et il soutient le régime de Loukachenka. Il continue de jouer un rôle actif dans le régime de Loukachenka en tant que directeur général de l’entreprise d’État BELAERONAVIGATSIA.
