Sergei Borisovich KOROLEV

First Deputy Director, Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation

Sergei Borissovich Korolev is the First Deputy Director of the Russian FSB, since February 2021. He is reported to be closely associated with FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov, and businessmen Arkadii and Boris Rotenberg. He is indicated as a potential replacement for Bortnikov in the position of Head of the FSB. He is a career officer in the FSB, having served there since the 2000s and having previously served as the director of the FSB’s Economic Security Service. In 2021, Vladimir Putin awarded him the rank of Army General, which is a distinctive senior rank reward. He is therefore supporting and benefitting from Russian decision makers responsible for the annexation of Crimea or the destabilisation of Eastern Ukraine. The FSB is one of the intelligence services that provided Vladimir Putin with intelligence information before the commencement of Russian aggression against Ukraine on 24 February 2022. Sergei Borissovich Korolev is therefore responsible for actions which undermine and threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.

Sergei Borissovich Korolev est le premier directeur adjoint du FSB russe depuis février 2021. Il serait étroitement associé au directeur du FSB, Alexander Bortnikov, et aux hommes d'affaires Arkadii et Boris Rotenberg. Il est indiqué qu'il pourrait remplacer Bortnikov au poste de directeur du FSB. Il est fonctionnaire de carrière au sein du FSB, où il travaille depuis les années 2000 et a précédemment exercé la fonction de directeur du service de sécurité économique du FSB. En 2021, Vladimir Poutine lui a décerné le grade de général d'armée, qui est une distinction de haut rang. Il soutient donc les décideurs russes responsables de l'annexion de la Crimée ou de la déstabilisation de l'est de l'Ukraine et en tire avantage. Le FSB est l'un des services de renseignement ayant fourni à Vladimir Poutine des informations avant le début de l'agression russe contre l'Ukraine le 24 février 2022. Sergei Borissovich Korolev est donc responsable d'actions qui compromettent et menacent l'intégrité territoriale, la souveraineté et l'indépendance de l'Ukraine.
