Former member of the State Duma. Former Deputy Speaker, State Duma. Member of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation since 2016. On 20 March 2014 he voted in favour of the draft Federal Constitutional Law “on the acceptance into the Russian Federation of the ‘Republic of Crimea’ and the formation within the Russian Federation of new federal subjects – the ‘Republic of Crimea’ and the City of Federal Status Sevastopol”.
Nikolay Levychev has served as a member of the Central Election Committee of the Russian Federation (CEC) since 2021. During his tenure, the CEC has been responsible for organising illegal referenda in 2022, as well as illegal elections in September 2023, in occupied parts of Ukraine, thus attempting to legitimise the Russian war of aggression of those parts. In this role, Nikolay Levychev is supporting and implementing actions and policies which undermine and threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.
