Gives effect to the UN Security Council's sanctions regime against North Korea, established by resolution 1718 (2006) in response to the country's nuclear weapon and ballistic missile programmes, and permits further UK designations. Designated persons are subject to an asset freeze, and designated individuals are barred from entering or transiting the United Kingdom. Beyond designations, the regime imposes country-wide measures including an arms embargo, export bans on dual-use goods, luxury goods, aviation fuel and petroleum products, import bans on North Korean coal, iron, textiles, seafood and other commodities, restrictions on financial services and investment, and bans on North Korean ships and aircraft entering UK ports and airspace.
