[EU-SYR] EU Restrictive measures against Syria JSON

Targets persons and entities linked to the former al-Assad government of Syria, including those responsible for the violent repression of the civilian population, the Syrian chemical weapons programme, and the trade in captagon and other illicit drugs, under Decision 2013/255/CFSP and Regulation (EU) No 36/2012. Designated persons are subject to an asset freeze and natural persons to a ban on entry into or transit through the EU; the listings targeting the former regime were most recently renewed until 1 June 2027. After the fall of the Assad government, the EU lifted almost all of its sectoral economic sanctions on Syria on 28 May 2025, including the banking, energy and transport restrictions. A small set of security-related measures remains in force, prohibiting the purchase or import of arms from Syria and trade in Syrian cultural heritage goods, and restricting exports of equipment usable for internal repression or for telecommunications monitoring and interception.
