EU-autonomous framework adopted in October 2023 in response to the military coup d'etat of 26 July 2023 in Niger and the detention of the democratically elected President, Mohamed Bazoum. It provides for an asset freeze on individuals and entities, and a travel ban on individuals, responsible for actions that threaten the peace, stability and security of Niger, undermine its constitutional order, democracy or the rule of law, or constitute serious human rights violations or abuses. The framework has been renewed through October 2026, but no persons or entities have been designated under it to date.
